The International Partnership for China's Environment (IPCE) is seeking environmental technology organizations to join our growing international environmental business network, which links innovative international environmental technology and expertise with business counterparts and government in China. A free three-month trial membership provides access to our monthly electronic newsletter, which details all the current opportunities for environmental technology businesses in the explosively growing Chinese market. Organizations are also listed in our members-only email network to receive timely information on projects, trade missions and other technical demands. After three months, your organization can continue to receive the membership services for two hundred fifty dollars a year. To join, please register or send an email to ifce@asia.com .

Opportunities in China

China is rapidly becoming one of the largest environmental markets in the world and a lucrative destination for global environmental enterprises. China's Tenth Five Year Plan (2000-2005) doubles the central government's commitment to "environmental controls" to 90 Billion Dollars ($USD) over the preceding plan. According to one study conducted by the Chinese government, environmental equipment and technologies in the following areas will be in great needs in the next 5-10 years:

1) Sewage and wastewater treatment (the greatest source of market demand), including treatment of high-density organic wastewater, heavy metals, recycling and resource retrieval; $11.6 billion market estimated by US DOC
2) Dust removal equipment (a large industrial market);
3) Desulfurization equipment (if 5% of coal-burning plants undertake desulfurization, market demand could be US$725 million);
4) Noise pollution control and vehicle emissions controls (both fast growing markets in growing urban areas with the increased number of cars and regulatory restrictions);
5) Municipal solid waste treatment equipment and sanitary landfill ($900 million market);
6) Medical waste treatment ($200 million market),
7) Recycling tech and equipment;
8) Energy saving and renewable energy tech and;
9) Monitoring equipment for all types of pollution.

In addition to the boom in environmental infrastructure demands in the air pollution, wastewater, energy and waste sectors, new ecological industries are emerging in China, including: ecological conservation, sustainable agriculture, organic foods, green product design, renewable energy, etc. These markets offer vast new opportunities for U.S. firms, and the IPCE newsletter would keep your organization updated on these opportunities.

The IPCE's and the IFCE's Mission

The IPCE was established by the International Fund for China's Environment (IFCE), a Washington, DC based international non-profit environmental organization. IPCE acts in partnership with local private sector firms in China and abroad to improve the transfer of advanced and appropriate environmental technologies to projects and business in China seeking environmental expertise. The IPCE also acts in partnership with U.S., Chinese and foreign government agencies seeking to promote the application of and investment in environmental technologies in China
The IPCE coordinates activities through two offices in Beijing, China and Washington, DC. These offices will coordinate the publication of the monthly newsletter. The IPCE Washington office will also formalize linkages with IFCE's existing network of private industry associations such as the Water Environment Federation (WEF) and trade promotion organizations such as the U.S. Commercial Services. These organizations will cooperate with the IPCE in hosting trade facilitation for delegations from China at key environmental business exhibitions in the U.S. and in promoting IPCE-lead trade missions to China, such as the delegation set to take place this September in Beijing.
